Kinsey and Pat met in Tampa in 2017 on what some might say was the premier mobile dating application at the time, Bumble. During their first date they discussed how they both went to Montessori school as preschoolers, they both had a treasured Irish heritage, and they both had graduated from college a semester early. Pat was impressed by the fact that Kinsey was working full-time and also going to school for a business degree in the evenings, and Kinsey was impressed that Pat was pursuing his PhD (and had 2 chili peppers on Rate my Professor but she later learned that most of these were submitted by his friends). All of that was enough to get them to go on a second date. In September of 2017 Pat quickly got to know Kinsey’s family as Hurricane Irma zeroed in on Tampa Bay and Central Florida. Kinsey was kind enough to invite Pat and a number of his classmates to hole up at her mother Gail’s house as the storm passed through. A number of Kinsey’s family members were also there. Needless to say, it was a packed house! After that, Kinsey and Pat decided they might as well meet the rest of one another’s family, so Kinsey came to California for Thanksgiving that year and got to meet his family and friends. A summer internship in the Chicago area the next year for Kinsey and then a graduation from the University of South Florida in 2019 for Pat led the two of them to Rockville, Maryland where a new job opportunity presented itself for Pat. After moving, Kinsey finished her degree taking night classes at the University of Maryland and began a job in DC shortly after. To make Kinsey feel at home, Pat surprised her with a day trip down to what was the northernmost Publix in the country in Fredericksburg, VA. A Pub-Sub did the trick to stave off some home sickness for Kinsey. Many road trips and COVID induced changes of locale later, Kinsey and Pat find themselves and their beloved cat, Cheeto, living in an apartment in Pasadena, California. They enjoy hiking around the San Gabriel mountains, monthly excursions to Descanso Gardens (where there still may reside a long lost relative of a duck that Pat’s mom once released into a pond when she was a child), countless Angels games, Claro's subs instead of Pub-Subs, and many bike rides which Pat has persisted on including Kinsey on. Pat and Kinsey continue to find any excuse they can to go on long and logistically complex trips to see family, friends, and new places, and look forward to doing so for the foreseeable future!
