How We Met

December 2022

A mutual friend told me [Kinsey] over Christmas break that he had someone in mind for me that I would "match well with," but the catch was that he lived in Texas. The friend exchanged numbers for Landon & I...and nothing happened. Landon was apparently too nervous to start the conversation, so after 2 weeks of waiting, I sent the first text to introduce myself! We texted sporadically through January, long texts with lots of information, but infrequent conversations each time. February rolled in, and so did the messages! So many back and forth, and into March as Landon started making plans to move out to California. He did so in late March of 2023, and we met in person for the first time on March 30 at our mutual friend's house. I was so nervous! But Landon was confident in himself and his feelings, and we had a great weekend with our friends and each other. Being in California was a great first step, but we still lived 5 hours apart, so visits could only happen once a month (mostly because of my schedule lol). We had a long face time call every night after that weekend, and still do any time one of us is traveling. Landon met my family in May and June, and we flew to Texas for Thanksgiving week 2023 and I met his family! It was a busy few months, and within a week of us returning from Texas Landon moved from Sacramento down to San Luis Obispo, and Christmas 2023 was spent with my family in Ceres, California. We were both so happy to now be living only be 20 minutes away from each other, which was extra great when we could travel together for the 4 hours to see my family. The months rolled on, more adventures were had together on the Central Coast of California, and then came June and the end of the school year for me. Abby, my best friend and housemate of the last 4 years was moving back home to Washington state, and I was packing to move to a different residence here in Arroyo Grande before Landon and I started the drive to Texas for 3 weeks of the summer. Though the summer was busy and the drive out and back from Texas was long, we had tons of fun and spent the longest stretch of uninterrupted time together we'd had yet! In October 2024, Abby flew down for a visit and had adventures in mind to hit all her favorite spots. One of those spots was a walking path at the end of Shell Beach, the town we had lived in and a spot we had frequented before. Abby is a sucker for a good sunset (who isn't, am I right?), so her request to walk this path close to sunset wasn't unusual. I had an idea [a hope] that this might be a proposal, but I didn't want to assume and be wrong haha. Landon had never been to this particular path, so he had asked Abby ahead of time for some possible locations, and to take photos/video for us. She did amazing (not surprising) with both! So on October 13, 2024 we were engaged in the exact spot you can see us posed in all our engagement photos. The rest is history...which is to say that it has been an exciting whirlwind of planning and booking to go from engaged to married in the span of 6 months, and we can't be more excited to have you celebrate with us!
