It all started by swiping right on Tinder in the fall of 2015. After talking for a few days, Josh asked Grace out to Eagle Rock Brewery. Grace was ready to meet this new mysterious red head for just a drink after a night of babysitting. One drink at the Eagle Rock Brewery led to another at The Greyhound as they shared about their upcoming adventures. Once Josh told her he was planning to hike the PCT, she became smitten and the rest was history. The next day Josh invited her to hang out with his friends at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where they watched a back to back feature of Back to the Future. Grace knew there was something special about this older guy who wasn't afraid to introduce her to his friends their second day of knowing each other. After their initial meeting, they were inseparable and shared many adventures together. Grace and Josh ended up finishing the last 280 miles of the PCT together in 2017. The next few years, Josh continued to work in the film industry as an editor and Grace worked to get her teaching credential and Master's in Education at Claremont Graduate University. During the last few months of Grace's grad program, they moved in together to a two bedroom condo in Monterey Hills. After the shit show of 2020, Josh and Grace added a furry friend to their family, Nali, and all of their days became a little brighter and lighter. In the summer of 2021, Grace, Josh and Nali took a cross country road trip in a camper van to Michigan to meet Josh's nephew. Along the way, they camped at every National Park they could, camping at 7 parks total. Yellowstone was Nali's favorite. Just before they left on the trip, they had designed an engagement ring together, but Grace didn’t know when Josh would propose. She thought there would be so many romantic places in the National Parks to get proposed to, but Josh had other plans. On their last night in Zion National Park, Josh gave Grace a romantic card explaining that they had one more final adventurous destination. For those of you who don't know, Grace loves surprises, and this was the ultimate surprise as she had no idea where Josh was taking her. Of course, her first question was, "Can we bring Nali?" The answer was yes! After their hour and half drive from their place, they ended up at an AirBnb in Temecula. The next morning, they woke up at 4:00am for a sunrise adventure, and ventured to a parking lot filled with hot air balloons! To Grace's surprise, Josh rented a private hot air balloon and hired their own personal photographer and videographer. Josh had talked to the pilot beforehand, and he told him that when he started talking about all of the different planes he’s flown that would be Josh's cue. So Josh got down on one knee to “get out his camera” and then held out the ring and tried to get Grace’s attention. Josh was like, “Grace, down here,” and honestly caught her by surprise. He proposed and of course she said yes! When they landed, they had champagne and roses waiting. Afterward they were met by family and friends to celebrate their engagement. They then jumped on a party bus to go on some wine tours and the rest of that weekend gets a little fuzzy. They are so happy to be celebrating their marriage with everyone, and can't wait for their elegant rager to begin!
We look forward to celebrating in the safest way possible! Our wedding is an all outdoor event, so please feel free to wear a mask or be maskless. If you plan to take a shuttle, please bring a mask to wear to respect everyone's safety and minimize any spread of illness. We plan to have a fully vaccinated wedding. We ask that everyone attending is fully vaccinated and boosted at least 2 weeks prior to traveling. If vaccination is not possible for you or your family, we ask that you receive a negative PCR covid test within 48 hours of the wedding. Please send Grace or Josh the results via text or email.
