How we met

First comes school

We met somewhere in the halls or classrooms of Dallastown Middle and High School. Dylan had long very blonde hair and he was easily one of the goofiest guys I knew. He was a manager of the girls volleyball team in high school, and that's how I got to know him. There is a super awkward picture of us at my sweet 16. My mom swears she told me I should date Dylan in high school (but I don't think he was ever single), and I thought he was way too much of a goof for me. And here we are. We graduated and we didn't have any contact for 4 years.

And then...

I was a senior at Etown and Dylan was in pharmacy school at Wilkes. I will never forget one random Wednesday night when I was student teaching, out of the blue, seeing the name Dylan Smith on my phone. I had no idea why he would text me after 4 years. He told me he was coming home for spring break and asked if I wanted to get together and catch up. I didn't even think twice. Our first date was on March 10, 2017 at Mudhook Brewery. We were supposed to go swing dancing too, but we talked for so long that we missed the lesson. We started dating on April 30, 2017 and never looked back.

He popped the question!

January 31, 2020

Fast forward 3 years, and life is good! We both graduated, got jobs, and are figuring out this adulting thing. Dylan asks if I want to go to Mudhook for dinner and drinks on Friday after work. I will always love it there; it makes me so nostalgic remembering our first date. In true Morgan fashion, I came home from school on Friday and took a nap. I had no idea I was getting engaged that night! We got to Mudhook, and I had no idea Dylan went in ahead of time and reserved the table where we sat on our first date. But the hostess didn't know we were the couple it was reserved for, and he didn't want to give anything away, so we sat at another table. I still had no idea. I did find it odd that he went to the bathroom right after we got there and another few times, but it didn't make me suspicious. We were planning on walking to a nearby bar for drinks, but when we walked out, he suggested we go the other way and try somewhere else. We walked into the courtyard at Cherry Lane and I saw my sister and her boyfriend with a camera, and candles and pictures were set up everywhere. Midway through the proposal, the staff at Mudhook (who knew what was going on) came out and started clapping and cheering before I could even say yes! I was overwhelmed and completely filled with happiness. I didn't think the night could get any better, but Dylan wasn't done with surprises! We wanted to go get drinks to celebrate, and we walked to the Handsome Cab. We walked upstairs and our entire families were there to celebrate with us! It was such a special night.

Here we are!

Exactly six months after we got engaged, we became homeowners! And a few months after that, we became fur parents to Miley and Molly. We are counting down the days until we are finally Mr. and Mrs. Smith! May 30, 2021 can't come soon enough!

For all the days along the way
