In August 2013, David and I both applied to the same student organization at our school, James Madison University (go dukes!). Little did we know, Outriggers would change both of our lives. During the group interview for Outriggers, David was a confident junior always volunteering to participate. Meanwhile, I was a young freshman, without knowledge of what a group interview was. However, David claims that I gave creative and intentional answers throughout the interview. Somehow, we both were accepted into this leadership organization (thanks Nico!). We barely talked to each other at first. The next year, all of that changed over a couple of milkshakes! We bonded over our love for JMU, discussions about leadership styles, Chick-fil-a french fries, and Thursday night Outriggers meetings. In May 2015, David graduated and headed to Washington, DC. As we split ways, we decided to try out the titles "boyfriend" and "girlfriend," and this started the 4.5 year adventure of long-distance. The next 2 years, we spent countless hours traveling back and forth between DC and JMU until I graduated and moved to Richmond, VA to attend Physical Therapy school. Throughout this time of balancing friendships, churches in different cities, working, studying, and being in a relationship we learned about God’s timing, encouragement, and grace. During my final summer of graduate school in 2019, David planned a weekend getaway to our favorite place, JMU. David knew I was hard to surprise, so he strategically let me choose which spot on campus we would head to next. I decided to go to the arboretum thinking we were just going on a walk to our favorite bridge. Here is where he asked me to be his teammate, wife, and forever best friend. I moved to Arlington in January of 2020 so we could finally be in a short-distance relationship. We fully credit God for creating our story and transforming our relationship into what it is today. We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with you all!
