We were both in college, just beginning to prepare for the MCAT and planning our paths to medical school. We had enrolled in an MCAT prep course and were both placed in the same study group. Our first study session was at the University of Utah library and from there, we started meeting regularly at local coffee shops. As we spent more time studying and talking, we realized we had many shared interests and values and our friendship grew. Eventually, we found ourselves in the same medical school class and during our first year, that friendship turned into something more! We dated throughout medical school, moved to Iowa for our residency and got engaged during residency!
