We were both working at Riverside Methodist Hospital and would see each other in passing from time to time. I felt awkward (as I do most of the time) that we had matched on a dating app and still had not acknowledged the fact in person. Then I had some liquid courage one Saturday night out, and happened to run into Wes and Bill, one of his groomsmen. I said hi to both of them, then tapped Wes and politely (in my version of the story) said "We need to talk" wanting for us to acknowledge that we matched on this app and still had not had a non work related face to face conversation. We chatted for a bit then Wes asked me for my number, and we went out on our first date two days later!
After confirming with Michele and Ali that her ring size was oddly but indeed the same as her shoe size (it is not), I asked Joe for permission in my parking garage after an OSU basketball game. One morning after taking call, I asked Natalia if she wanted to get brunch. Just prior to picking her up, I snagged Ali and Lindsay (Matrons of Honor) and stored them in my bedroom closet /laundry room. It took me telling her that I had poop on my shoe, but I finally convinced Natalia that we needed to stop in my apartment before brunch (there's not much getting between her and a good meal). Once at my apartment, I asked her to open her Christmas gift early as per usual. There is a lot of backstory as to why I decided to put a neon post-it note with a proposal checklist inside of a clutch/wallet and package it back up, but after she read the post-it for what seemed to be the 8th time she realized I was on one knee with a ring. She said yes, and then she screamed when Ali and Lindsay burst out of my bedroom. The rest is a great blur of her family and friends congratulating us at Seventh Son Brewing.
