We first met when I moved to Marietta in the fall of 2021. I had transferred schools and stores for a bit of change. Our interactions were brief, and if I'm being honest, avoidant. I thought no one who carries themselves that confidently could be as kind hearted as he truly is. A few months went by and he left for his summer internship. When he returned, we very quickly became friends, mostly due to some amazing mutual friends of ours who always "needed help" with their work and unknowingly fostered the beginnings of an incredible friendship. Eventually, I swiped left on Vitor's tinder profile, mostly due to the fact that he was my coworker, but whenever either of us needed a hand with work we'd seek each other out. One evening, leaving the store, Vitor told me to let him know if I ever wanted to get drinks and drove off on his motorcycle before I could respond. The next day, I came to work and asked him out for a drink. He turned me down. We exchanged phone numbers and made plans for September 9th. We went to Red Hare and The Third Door, then sat in the Marietta Square until 3am just talking. By the end, I wasn’t sure if it had been a date, but I knew that he was somehow different. Our next three dates happened within a week. We kept it a secret at work for a little while, but were found out when I was telling our friend about how my boyfriend had changed my tire and Vitor promptly walked over and began talking about my spare. He told me that he loved me for the first time after sneaking me into his parents house while they were out of town. He actually made me avoid the cameras (it didn’t work). I said it back for the first time a few weeks later in the parking lot of a gaming store. Lots of laughter, tears, hikes, smiles, and love later I get to walk down the aisle to my best friend.
