How We Met

#AnyLuck

Funny how those dating apps work...just when you are about to give up...because you are tired of wasting your time...Somehow...Someway...a beautiful, kind, and thoughtful person presents themselves to you...like a gift from the universe. Our Story began on OK Cupid. We had a date set up for a Monday night, he was eager and asked if I could meet him Saturday morning for breakfast because he had some time to kill. We met at Mimi's Cafe and he was truly the first guy that did not "freak out" about the fact that I am a therapist and actually found it intriguing. Date #1, I thought, was pretty amazing. Come Monday, about 4 hours before our 2nd date, he cancels stating something about his dad telling him about gut instincts. However, he agreed to speak to me via phone, because I was truly stunned...Date #1 was so amazing, what could possibly have gone wrong?? He explained he just didn't think we were in the same place and he wasn't ready for what I was looking for?? Saddest Feelings Ever...Fast Forward 6 weeks and I happened to be up in Pinetop with a bunch of my friends and what pops up on my OK Cupid app...Scott's handsome face. After a moment of thought I just decided to reach out and simply sent him the message "Any Luck?" He responded and we had our second "1st date" 2 days later. He chose a place to meet for a drink and then messaged me a few minutes before "warning" me that it was a bit of a dive bar. Turns out he is pretty good at pool...and yet the first game we ever played I sunk the 8 ball on the break...showing him just who I am..LOL. He had me on date #2 and then there was a date #3, which was the Super Bowl (Patriots vs. Falcons)...The rest is History! I fell in love with him, he fell in love with me, and before I knew it, he was down on one knee!

The Proposal

October 17, 2018

We were on a fall foliage trip (a bucket list item that I had wanted to do for years). Halfway through the trip we landed in Meredith and Center Harbor, New Hampshire, where Scott grew up. He took me to his childhood home and casually walked up to the front door and explained to the kind gentleman (who had just returned from a 3-week European vacation...so timing was impeccable) that he grew up in this house and would it be possible for him to show me around and take me down by the lake, which he graciously allowed. As we are walking down to the boathouse, while Scott is telling me about all of these wonderful stories (and a few not so wonderful) about his childhood, I couldn't help but take in the beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee. It continues to amaze me that he has about a dozen friends that he has known since he was very young whom he still maintains regular contact. As we approach the boat dock and the serenity of Lake Winnipesaukee, I am taking tons of pictures (of course) and as I am backing up I almost trip over him, and as I turn around he is on one knee and as he asks me to marry him...I was so shocked it took me a moment to register what was happening...requiring Scott to ask me, "Well is it a yes?" I was shaking...I had waited for this moment for so long...i was literally speechless (which is extremely rare for me). We are sooooo looking forward to beginning our lives together as Husband and Wife!
