Buzz buzz! We met each other on Bumble. As the saying goes, The third time's the charm. Initially, I swiped past his profile (I thought he was way out of my league), but then his profile appeared two more times. I remember thinking that this must be a sign from God and swiped yes on the third time and BOOM! We matched immediately. The way the app works, I had to reach out to him first. I like tacos, and he had a taco emoji in his profile, so I asked him where his favorite taco place in Houston was. He said Liberty Taco and that's where we met for our first date.
It was more as a group effort of how we became official. We had been talking to each other for about a month before he asked me to be his girlfriend. My birthday was coming up and I wanted to karaoke with my friends to celebrate. I figured it was kind of neutral grounds for my friends and family to meet his friends, so I invited him to come with his friends. As everyone was introducing themselves to each other, one of Renan's friends asked me if I was his girlfriend. I said, "I don't know, you'd have to ask Renan." Fast forward to later that night when we went to eat after karaoke, my sister and cousin asked Renan if I was his girlfriend. He didn't say no, but then again he didn't say yes either! In my head, I was like OMG, maybe he doesn't like me as much as I thought he did or as much as I liked him. But then after everyone had gone, he took my hand, looked me in my eyes, told me how much he liked me and asked me to be his girlfriend!
We both decided to start travel nursing last year. I was lucky enough to land a contract in Houston, while Renan had to go to San Antonio for his first contract. We decided to go on a vacation together once our contracts were done to celebrate. We ended up going to Puerta Vallarta to relax at an all inclusive resort. The morning he proposed, we decided to relax and have drinks by the pool before going to dinner. Let's just say someone had a little too much to drink and we almost missed our dinner! Side note: it wasn't me. Lol. Renan ended up surprising me with a private candle-lit dinner on the beach for just the two of us. I remember him holding my hand and walking me down to the beach. There were red rose petals and candles everywhere. It was super romantic. I remember admiring the view and didn't even notice when he got down on one knee to propose. As soon as I turned to him, he asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes! I think I know why he had all those drinks by the pool now!
