We met when we were both working for the Learning Care Group in Novi, MI. Kim had a candy bowl at her desk. Peter discovered that candy bowl in record time!
We were work mates for years. Good buddies! Always dating someone else, who wasn't each other. (Peter had rules about dating coworkers. Kim did not.) But, we'd discuss our relationships as conversation fodder for our shared walk breaks. When Peter took a job at another company, Kim took him to a farewell lunch to celebrate. A few weeks later, Peter invited Kim to the movies. As a pal? As a date? Kim wasn't sure until he didn't try to kiss her goodnight. Many texts and conservations later and we finally found the courage to admit that maybe we both actually LIKE liked each other and we should just give it go! Our first REAL date was 4/23/2019. Which is the same date that both our lives forever changed for the better.
We were spending the 2020 Thanksgiving holiday with Peter's family in Ouray, CO. On, 11/23/20, we spent all day hiking the beautiful mountain trails of Ridgway State Park. Little did Kim know that Peter had been carrying a shiny little surprise in his pocket all week, just waiting for that perfect moment. Once he discovered a trail called the Enchanted Mesa, he knew this was the spot to give Kim the most enchanting surprise of her life!
Getting engaged during the height of the COVID pandemic proved for some very creative wedding planning! With venues closed during the early months of our engagement, and watching other friends struggle with having to postpone, reschedule, and continually put off their wedding dates, we decided that no virus or venue was going to stop us from becoming man and wife. We decided that a private ceremony in a public setting would circumvent any venue or COVID mishaps. On 5/18/22, we were able to share our union with our immediate families on the steps of the Wayne Country building in downtown Detroit while good luck rain showered upon us and downtown traffic honked its congratulations. It was the most perfect day of our lives!
