Maid of Honor
Cat was my first real-life doll - a long-awaited sister after a bunch of brothers. We have been talking about her being my maid of honor since she was old enough to talk. I am very excited to have her by my side on this special day!
Best Man
Brandon is my best friend from High School. We both went to Fort Zumwalt East High School and Lewis and Clark Career Center together. Brandon and I have maintained a very solid friendship post High school which is hard to come by these days. I was actually Brandon's Best Man in his wedding, and I'm looking forward to having him as my best man for my Wedding.
Bridesmaid
Annie is my youngest sister, shopping buddy, and Latin Mass pew partner. Especially over the last year, I have enjoyed growing closer to her as we are the last two sisters at home and we will often get ready for Mass together on Sunday and chat during the evenings.
Groomsman
Andrew is my only brother I have! Like some siblings, Andrew and I fought a lot growing up. But as we grew up, our relationship got better. We both wrestled in High school and it was one of the greatest honors wrestling in the same Varsity lineup his senior year. We both maintained a interest in watching High school wrestling a few years even after we graduated.
Bridesmaid
Cecilia is my closest cousin - my honorary sister before I had biological sisters! She is a month and five days older than me; we spent a good part of our summers together putting on plays, writing stories, and playing games. Since then, we've grown even closer together as I have spent many an evening at her house talking about life, I was the maid of honor in her wedding, and Matthew and I are blessed to be godparents to her daughter Esther and her son Silas.
Groomsman
Nick and I met at St. Barnabas, and is probably one of the few people responsible for Kimberly and I getting together in the first place. Nick had asked me in October of 2020 to be the godfather to his daughter Esther Sue. Nick hosts a bible study that I participate in every other Sunday, which afterwards usually results in ping pong afterwards or Super Smash Bros with his son Gabe. Nick's sons Gabe and Sam are a blast to play with as they are so full of energy! And Kimberly and I are blessed to have Silas as our godson!
Bridesmaid
Cayley is my sister-in-law, who married into our family in October 2020. She fit right into the family and I consider her my sister! Over the last year, I have enjoyed hanging out with her and Rusty at their house in Troy; while Matthew and Rusty chat about sports, I've been able to spend a lot of time getting to know Cayley, which is awesome since we have a lot of similar interests.
Groomsman
Rusty is the first brother that Kimberly introduced me to, and we instantly hit it off. We have very similar interests regarding sports. We are both big baseball and football fans. Rusty likes giving me trouble about the Cubs, which usually gets reciprocated about the Cardinals themselves. Rusty and I usually talk the most with each other during Kimberly's family get togethers, which Kimberly always accuses us of having a bromance!
Bridesmaid
Kate is my first sister-in-law - she’s been part of our family for ~10 years, and I consider her my sister! We went to Maryville for a couple years together, and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. Over the last few years, I have enjoyed going to her house for dinner, watching hers and my brother’s bearded dragon Sydney, and last year we spent a lot of time together planning Cayley’s bridal shower, which was great!
Groomsman
As a fellow Matthew myself, I usually just call him Dobbs. Dobbs and I met through mutual friends. Dobbs likes the TLM as he attends Mass at St. Francis de Sales Oratory. Dobbs is one of my friends where we go to parties, go out for drinks, and talk about cars. I was also Best man for Dobbs in his wedding as well, which shows how good our friendship is! I'm grateful to have Dobbs as a friend!
Bridesmaid
Jill is my honorary Big Sis! I spent many a day and night at her house over the last 10+ years watching chick flicks, eating french fries, and talking about life and everything. She helped me through many a rough patch and helped me avoid many more. She has been a wonderful role model for how a Catholic woman, wife, and mother should be and I am excited to have her be a part of my bridal party!
Groomsman
Tyler was the wingman behind this whole operation, so of course Tyler had to be a groomsman. Tyler and I met at Saint Barnabas and we always give each other a bunch of trouble! But Tyler and I have shared interests in great Catholic liturgy but also football and fantasy football. Kimberly and I always joke that Tyler looks like a Football Quarterback taken as the first overall draft pick! He could fit in with Peyton Manning, Sam Bradford, Jared Goff, Joe Borrow, etc.
Officiant and Homilist
Fr. Dane Westhoff is Matthew’s Uncle. Fr. Westhoff was ordained a Priest in 2020 by Archbishop Carlson, and is now an Associate Pastor at Saint Joseph Parish in Cottleville. Watching his Ordination day was one of the best things Matthew has ever been able to attend. Matthew couldn’t be more proud to see how far his uncle has come. Outside of his parents, Matthew couldn’t have asked for a better role model. Sometimes, Matthew almost views him as a second brother. During his years at the Seminary, Fr. Westhoff inspired Matthew to become a better Catholic, learn more about his faith, and more importantly to set an example. Now, Matthew is excited that his Uncle will be the one to marry him and Kimberly.
Priest for Mass
Fr. Stephen Schumacher is one of Matthew and Kimberly's favorite Priests! We talk so much about how great his Masses are - probably chants the best Preface out of any Priest we know, and has some really great homilies to add to it. Fr. Schumacher was ordained in 2019 by Archbishop Carlson, and is currently an Associate Pastor at Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield. When Matthew attended the Ordination Mass in 2019 and received a blessing from Fr. Schumacher, he had no idea that less than three years later that he would ask him to be the Priest for his Nuptial Mass.
Deacon for Mass
Fr. Anthony Gerber is truly a joy. He is an Associate at Sacred Heart Church in Old Town Florissant. Fr. Gerber brings such positive vibes, and adds a lot of positive energy to the room! Matthew and Kimberly enjoy it when he comes to Saint Barnabas, which made it easy to ask him to be a part of our Nuptial Mass. Fr. Gerber is also doing Matthew’s and Kimberly’s marriage prep; he did marriage prep for a couple of their friends/relatives, and received such positive reviews! Matthew and Kimberly are excited to have him prepare them to receive the sacrament of Holy Matrimony and be Deacon in the Solemn High Nuptial Mass!
Subdeacon for Mass
Fr. Linus Dolce, from the St. Louis Abbey, has done the most Masses at Saint Barnabas since the new way the Parish has been run (May 2021). Fr Linus is soft-spoken and very humorous, but is overall a very great and kind guy! He's been so willing to help our parish and has come the most of any priest. With how much Fr. Linus has helped out our parish, it wouldn't be right without him celebrating this Nuptial Mass too!
Master of Ceremonies
When you’re trying to put the best lineup possible, you’re truly getting one of the best with Steven Gilroy as Master of Ceremonies! Matthew has asked for plenty of advice and information from Steven regarding serving rubrics. Steven and Matthew met through Juventutem STL and Una Voce STL, and Steven actually met Kimberly about a decade ago at Sursum Corda hosted by Saint Francis DeSales Oratory. Steven spends a lot of his time serving Masses at Saint Mary of Victories and Epiphany in both the Ordinary and Extraordinary Forms. Steven is an Instituted Acolyte, allowing him also to Subdeacon at Masses when needed as well. Matthew and Kimberly both know that their Nuptial Mass will be in good hands with Steven as the Master of Ceremonies.
Thurifer
Andrew Foster is the youngest server at Saint Barnabas, but has the brightest future serving amongst them all. He never lets his age be reason not to be as good as the rest of the servers. He has always wanted to learn more than the next guy. Andrew also loves joking around with the rest of the Saint Barnabas servers, and has the nickname of “Little Bruno" (He looks like Bruno Mars). Andrew will have no problem bringing the smoke on May 14th.
Acolyte I
Diego has been serving with Matthew since May of 2019, and has been under Matthew's wing learning as much as he can about serving all the roles in Mass. With Matthew being the Master of Ceremonies, Diego has been his right hand man, and with that Matthew and Diego have formed a very solid friendship over the last few years. It is very fitting for Diego to serve for this Mass.
Acolyte II
Matthew and Luke go back a few years just like Diego. Luke attended a Latin Mass at St. Barnabas and after watching Matthew serve a Mass solo, Luke had the desire to serve the Latin Mass and help out. Luke has also been one of the top recruits in getting more servers and a strong leader serving up at the altar. Matthew and Kimberly are happy to have Luke serving at their Wedding!
Ring Bearer
Gabe is the son of Nick and Cecilia Evers, and is one of our favorite kids to hang out with when we go to the Evers’ house! He is so full of energy and always has something to say to make us laugh! We are excited to have him as our ringbearer for our special day!
Organist and Choirmaster
Ryan Murphy has been the Organist and Choirmaster at Saint Barnabas since the beginning of 2016, and now is the director of music and liturgy at St. Barnabas. Since 2018, Matthew and Ryan have been working together to bring the best out of each Saint Barnabas Mass. Ryan is a phenomenal Organ player and leads a great choir. Matthew and Ryan have also have developed a good friendship throughout the years!
