There is a wonderful butterfly atrium/exhibit. It is something everyone should experience if you have time.
We've heard great things about this museum, although we haven’t visited it ourselves. It's next to the Florida Museum of Natural History Museum.
This is the place to go if you want to see alligators in their natural habitat. There is a lookout at the end of the 1 mile trail where you can usually see wild horses and bison.
This park requires a lot of walking. There is a steep staircase to climb down in order to get down to the bottom of the sink hole. It is a very interesting place but suited best for people who have good mobility. Note that it is only open on certain days. Check their website in advance to make sure it is open. As with all of the state parks, there is a nominal entrance fee.

For all you gearheads, this place is super cool and a must see if you can squeeze it in. It's about a 45-50 drive south of Gainesville. Check out their website.
