Our Story

Did not expect that to happen

We met on an app, Bumble, in late August/early September of 2021. A few short weeks later, we had our first date. I had to go to the dodge dealership in Bonham and Jarrett invited me to lunch at Mudbones. When I arrived, the restaurant was closed for renovations. Jarrett was slightly embarrassed, but made a quick decision that turned into the beginning of our future. If you were to ask us, we would describe our first date as organic. Nothing awkward or strange. Just us being our most natural selves, and talking for almost 3 hours about anything and everything. From then on, we became inseparable. With us living in two different towns and an hour and half drive, we coordinated weekend visits. We both discovered that we enjoy going to new places, trying new things, and, most chees-ily, spending time with each other. 5 years later, we´re still enjoying trying new things, going to new places, and spending time together. We are even more excited that we get to do all of those things together for forever.

The Proposal

He broke the rules, but it was worth it

When it came time for Jarrett to propose, I had a long list of things for him to do and not to do. ¨Don´t propose on a holiday¨, ¨Make sure you talk to my dad¨, ¨Make sure I have my nails done¨, etc. You can guess which rule he broke. I had made a shared album of screenshots of different rings so he did not have to do any guess work. It was already done for him. All he had to do was pick. We invited our friend group up to Arkansas for the July 4th weekend. On the drive up in the early morning of July 3rd, I was moving stuff into the center console of the truck. Jarrett later admitted that he was internally panicking, because that is where he was currently hiding the ring. I would later find out that he hid the ring in the pocket behind the passenger seat in his car, knowing that I would not ever look there. On the day of the 4th, he took two naps. I thought it was odd of him, but I also thought that he could just be tired, since the cabin is one of the places we frequently go to to recharge and rest. We and the group go outside to get the sparklers out and start making s´mores to celebrate the 4th. Amanda suggests that we all take pictures. After each family has taken their pictures, it was our turn. I was making silly faces, only to turn to hear Jarrett say as he got down on one knee ¨I told you that you would be the first one to know once I was ready to jump all in. So here I am, jumping in. Will you marry me?¨ It was by far the easiest YES I´ve ever said. Not only did he shock myself, but he also shocked everyone else, aside from Joshua & Amanda, who helped him get everything in order. We were so excited to have been able to celebrate our engagement with some of our closest friends. Now, July 4th has an even more special reason to be celebrated.
