It's finally happening!

Kim and Derrick’s story began with an attraction between their close friends during their sophomore year of college, in San Marcos, TX. After several unsuccessful attempts to connect the two friends through nights of eating Little Caesar’s pizza and drinking Keystone, Kim and Derrick’s relationship unexpectedly evolved into a true love story. It was during their first summer apart, over a long-distance phone call, that Kim insisted Derrick ask her to be his girlfriend. That summer, Derrick made an eight-hour journey from Grand Prairie to Weslaco, TX, where he spent time with his new official girlfriend. Over the next thirteen years, Kim and Derrick shared some of their favorite moments together. They adopted their first fur baby, Blue, traveled, relocated from Austin to Dallas, TX, and bought their first home. After years of persistent encouragement from Kim, family, and friends, Derrick finally decided it was the perfect time to turn his longtime girlfriend into his lifelong wife. Their love of traveling took them around the world to Tokyo, Japan. Without Kim’s knowledge, Derrick approached each day with the intention of proposing but struggled to find the right moment. Finally, on March 14, 2025, Derrick found the perfect opportunity to ask Kim to be his wife. The rest of the day was spent doing what had initially brought them together: drinking beer and enjoying food together. Now, Kim and Derrick are excited to share another important milestone in their journey. On May 16, 2026, they will say yes to each other and look forward to celebrating and dancing the night away with all the people they cherish most.
