It was July 1, 2014, around five in the afternoon, right in front of St. Paul University in Quezon City, when fate quietly stepped in. Two students in school uniforms crossed paths without knowing that this ordinary moment would become the beginning of a lifelong story. He was a Marine Transportation student, grounded and disciplined. She was a Communication Arts student, expressive and full of dreams. Like many beautiful beginnings, ours unfolded gently. Simple text messages turned into meaningful conversations. Conversations grew into understanding, laughter, and comfort. In time, he chose her intentionally and formally asked to court her, setting the tone for a love built on sincerity and respect. For a while, everything felt effortless. But love, like life, is not without its trials. By December of 2016, circumstances and timing pulled us in different directions. With heavy hearts, we chose to let each other go, believing it was the kindest thing we could do at the time. We walked separate paths, carrying memories of a love that once felt so sure. Life went on. We grew, healed, and learned who we were outside of each other. Just like in “Maybe This Time,” two old sweethearts who fell apart somewhere long ago, wearing older faces and carrying stories of where they had been. Then, in the most unexpected and beautiful turn of events, love found its way back. Just as our story had begun years earlier, it was gently rekindled through a dear friend, Mary Martinez, who had been part of our journey from the very start. Through her, conversations reopened, walls softened, and feelings we thought had faded revealed that they had only been waiting. By 2018, our hearts found their way back to one another. This time, we came back not as the same people we once were, but as two souls shaped by time, growth, and grace. The love was familiar, yet stronger. Quieter, yet deeper. What once broke us had taught us patience, forgiveness, and faith in timing. She’s back in his life, and it feels so right. Maybe this time, love won’t end. Ours is a story of love that waited, endured, and returned. A reminder that when something is truly meant to be, it does not disappear. It simply finds its way home.
