Unfortunately, no. This was a tough decision. We love our nephews and nieces dearly and we are so lucky to have many wonderful little kiddos in our life. But, we decided this will be a adult only celebration. We wanted everyone to enjoy themselves without tinny humans running around. We appreciate your support!!
Forest House Lodge (FHL) has rooms available. We also set up a block of rooms at Miner’s Camp (approximately a quarter mile down the road from the FHL) as well as a “special rate” at the Holiday Inn in Auburn. Guests may arrive starting on September 23, 2021 & check out on September 25, 2021. Please contact Kimberly and/or Duane to reserve rooms. Once we receive formal “yes!” RSVPs we will finalize room details with each guest & our wedding coordinator. Please see info under the Travel tab as well. If you plan to drink at the wedding but are not planning to stay the night in town, please be aware Uber/Lyft are not available in Foresthill. In fact, locals say Uber/Lyft NEVER drive to Foresthill. Please drink responsibly & plan accordingly. Let us know if you are planning to come into town before September 23rd or staying after the wedding festivities. We will try to suggest hotel accommodations.
Foresthill, California is northeast of Sacramento; approximately a 60 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The closest domestic/international airport is Sacramento International Airport. There are many car rental options at the airport as well as around Sacramento. The majority of our wedding guests will be traveling to Foresthill for the wedding festivities. There will be plenty of parking available at Forest House Lodge.
Yes!!!! Duane’s says just Google it. But, it really depends on what you are looking for. We will chat with the venue and come up with ideas of things to do around the Auburn/Foresthill area. Sacramento has lots of outdoor activities that can be reached within an hour (hiking, lakes, kayaks/boating, nature reserves, etc.). There is also a great food and beer culture. And, if shopping is your thing, you can find outlet stores and malls. For those not from California: -San Francisco is about a 2 hour drive, one way, from Sacramento (on a good day/no traffic). -Lake Tahoe is about a 1.5 hour drive, one way, from Sacramento (on a good day/no traffic. And, could be longer depending on where you want to go). -Los Angeles is at least a 8 hour drive, one way, from Sacramento (on a good day/no traffic). -Yosemite Valley is at least a 3 hour drive, one way, from Sacramento (on a good day/no weather issues).
We are around if you need something. Please try to email (both of us) and if you don’t receive a response within a couple days then try to call. Kimberly’s email: kay.balog@yahoo.com Duane’s email: cduaned223@gmail.com You may also reach out to our respective parents for help. They can pass questions or information on to us.
Invitations have been sent; they are in the wild! Please RSVP by August 30th. You may respond by mailing the RSVP response card to us or respond through Zola. You do not need to do both methods. To RSVP through Zola, you need to enter your name and/or email. If you try to RSVP through Zola and it does not work, please update your contact information with Kimberly or Duane.
We are registered! We decided to use the Zola website because it “pulled” items from a lot of different stores and establishments. And, it allowed us to set up cash gift options for things we are interested in doing and supporting. We are also registered at Macy’s. https://www.zola.com/registry/kimberly-and-duane4ever and/or Macys.com
Good question. And, in short-we are not sure. But, we are very hopeful things will continue to improve across the country and the world. We will be following state and local COVID-19 guidelines. As we get closer to our wedding date we will work closely with our venue to ensure everything is as safe as possible. We keep our family and friends in our thoughts everyday. Please stay safe and healthy. We look forward to celebrating together soon!
