He was the Sports Director and I was the Aquatics Director at the YMCA in Shelby, NC. When we met I kinda thought he was annoying (lol). We knew each other for about two years before we started hanging out as friends and then soon realized we wanted to be more then friends. He had a completely different plan then what happened but quarantine killed that. Slater made an excuse to come into town for the weekend which wasn't out of the ordinary. The plan was that we were going to go out to eat in SC on Sunday, May 17th, since everything in NC was still closed. Sunday came and I was getting ready, Nathan came and told me he needed to go help his mom with the boat. He was gone for about 30 minutes and then texted Slater and I and told us to just meet him at the Gaffney outlet mall and we would leave from there. I still did not see anything out of the ordinary. We get in the car and instead of going toward Gaffney, Slater starts going toward Asheville. I wait until we are almost in Rutherford county and then ask "where are we going?" she responded with "The Gaffney Outlet Mall"....... "no the Gaffney outlet mall is the complete opposite direction as what we are going"..... Jordan in the backseat: "She she has a GPS going".... this is where I knew something was going on. Flash forward about 30 minutes, we are now about 2-3 minutes away from Jump off Rock and Slater tells me to open the dash for a clue about where we were going. In the dash I find the SWEETEST handwritten letter from Nathan. I of course start crying and, by this point, know what is about to happen. We pull in the parking lot and Slater says "Okay, take a hike!!" Nathan was there waiting on me and walked me out onto a rock overlooking the mountain and popped the question.

Like others, COVID-19 rocked our world. We have not had to make any adjustments (yet) but please know that there is a chance that we will have to have our wedding at a different location and we may have to cut our guest list. We will keep everyone updated on both of these matters but please check back here for updates as well. Please understand that if we do have to cut you from the wedding list that we thought long and hard on it and we hope that you do not take it personally. We want each and every one of you there celebrating with us, but these are unprecedented times.
