In September of 2021 my great friend, Melody Adcock, felt that Kellyn and I would make a great match. After a lot of push back I finally agreed to go do a little hunt online. I immediately followed his instagram page (because he's gorgeous, duh). Quickly after, he reached out to me to set up a date. After a girls weekend with my best friend, Kinzie, and some liquid courage, I said yes. Our first date was a game of golf in good ole Frederick, America. On the first hole I gave it all I had to impress him with my skills. We originally had only paid to play 9 holes but that quickly turned into 18 holes. Our second date was the following weekend and you guessed it, we golfed another 18 holes. We've been each others golf partner and best friend since. It really only took 18 holes to fall for each other and we keep falling more in love everyday.
I had originally planned on proposing in the mountains in the company of two of our very best friends but unfortunately weather and an unexpected sickness changed that. My best friends for as long as I can remember, Mason and Jordan McCormick, had planned to meet Kimber and I in the Wichita Mountains to do some hiking (and also bring the ring so that Kimber wouldn't find it). But because this is Oklahoma and the weather does what it wants, the temperature dropped to around 30 degrees. Mason also came down with a sickness and to be safe we cancelled all plans. I had decided I was proposing that day no matter what so my brother rushed down to bring me the ring while Kimber's mom took her to get her nails done and get her away from the house. I called up Kent, Kimber's brother, and asked for help. Within a day Kent was able to find a photographer and set up a spot in Stillwater, OK where I could pop the question. Luckily for me, Kimber suspected nothing. My heart was beating so fast that her mom, Julie, could feel it through my back. With a quick pat on the back from her, I was ready to pop the question. In front of Beta pond I got down on one knee and asked my girl to marry me. She screamed (yes a full scream) yes and quickly let me know that I was holding the ring upside down. It was a day we will never forget and we are so blessed to have so many people in our life who helped make that day possible.
