We met during college at CSU Chico. Our college roommates (and now bridesmaid and groomsmen) Ashley and Trevor actually set us up. Ashley invited Kim to Ian’s birthday party back in 2011 since her boyfriend (now husband) was his roommate. Ian’s birthday was 80’s theme, so you can imagine the impression it would leave. Ian pulled Kim aside at the party to talk (and tried to impress her). He asked her if she knew what his initials were. Without hesitation, he drew his initials in the dust on the staircase. All you could see was a money sign (I+S= $). Here we are 9 years later through the ups and downs still laughing at his pick up lines!

We were up in Pleasanton for the weekend and had a picnic planned around 12:30pm with a few of our friends at Concannon Winery. That morning, Kim and her mom went out shopping for a family trip to Disneyworld. Ian stayed back at the house. He was pretty much pacing around all morning while getting calls/texts from Kim’s friends that we needed to changes place not once but twice due to complications. We ended up going with Concannon. When we were getting ready to go, her mom encouraged her to get a little dressed up and put on a bit of make-up. Kim wasn’t about it but gave in, not knowing what was about to happen in the next hour or so. We arrive at Concannon and get out of the car and first thing she said was "it’s too cold and windy for a picnic, who’s bright idea was this." We get to the table where our friends have been for a bit. They had food and wine already out. Kim sat across the table from Ian. Ian kept checking his phone and looking at what time it was. As soon as it hit 1:10pm, he knew it was time. Ian sent a text out to his mom to call him to give him a reason to walk away from the table. As soon as Ian got the phone call, he walked around the table to make sure Kim saw he was getting a phone call. As Ian was talking to his mom, she said to him “You got this, don't worry.” As he hung up the phone, he called Kim over. Kim unknowing what was going on was a little worried and thought maybe something happened at home or with the family. Ian pulled her in and hugged her and told her everything was going to be ok. This gave all her friends enough time to get phone and cameras out. Kim, still in confusion, didn’t understand what was going on. It was then that Ian backed away and got down on one knee and asked Kim if she would marry him. In utter shock, Kim stepped back, screamed “WHAT?!”, and delightedly said “Yes, of course."
