Kim and Cas first crossed paths during high school, where they became friends and briefly dated off-and-on. However, upon Cas's graduation, he proposed that Kim run away with him, to which she quickly declined. So, they went their separate ways, both moving out of state. Years later, fate brought them back to Columbus, where they reestablished their connection. It was during this reunion that Kim came to the realization that there was no one else she would rather run away and spend forever with.

On August 5th, 2023 Cas took Kim to a fantasy masquerade ball to celebrate her birthday. Unbeknownst to either of them, they were both planning this to be the perfect opportunity for a proposal. Kim’s ring arrived in the mail while Cas was at work, and the packing gave away what it was. Thankfully, she already suspected Cas was planning something since he is very, very bad at hiding surprises. At the ball, Kim tried to wait for Cas to make the first move but it seemed to not be coming, and so thinking she might be wrong about his plans, she proposed first. This flustread Cas and caused him to take even longer to pop the question. Four more songs worth of time, in fact. He was nervous giggling and acting awkwardly but eventually worked up the courage to get down on one knee. Thankfully, no one had noticed any of this and the two were able to go about their evening uninterrupted by strangers…..just the way they like it. It was a perfect evening and a beautiful setting to celebrate their newly engaged status.
