We are two 90's kids from loving Filipino and Mexican families who crossed paths and fell in love. Our career paths could not be more different, but we share a love of exploring the world, spending time outdoors and snowboarding, and rooting for our favorite sports teams. We met 10 years ago and dated long-distance for several years until moving in together in 2020. Kim is well known in high-end fashion retail within the Los Angeles/San Diego area, and Erick is an emergency physician in the Temecula/San Diego region. While we love each other's company, we could not survive without our two kind and caring cats, Oscuro and Canelo. They fill our home with joy and chaos. This next adventure in our story is exciting and we can't wait to experience our wedding with you all, our dear friends and family.
Erick was attending UC San Diego, and I was living in the San Fernando Valley. We had met over the phone because of our mutual friend, Tan, who is one of my closest friends from high school and was Erick's college roommate. I had driven down to San Diego multiple times, but Erick was never there. He was always "in the library studying", "at a family party", "helping out at home". Since he wasn't around, I used his bed. We now joke that we planted our scents on one another. We finally met on May 5th, 2012. I went to SD to join in on one of UCSD's Cinco de Mayo extracurricular activities. Tan let me know that Erick would also be joining in on the festivities that evening. Erick and I got to talk a bit that night; finding out we were both born in the Bellflower Hospital. I remember his personality as familiar and warm. We did not begin dating immediately, but kept in contact, until we made things official when Erick took me to my first soccer game at the Rose Bowl to see Liverpool vs Chelsea in 2016.
I proposed to Kim during my second year of residency in July 2022 while we were living Temecula. I had gotten a ring that I knew she would love, but was trying to plan on the right way to propose. That summer day, after living together for 2 years, we rearranged our little apartment with new furniture and threw out a lot of old household items we had hoarded over time. We went out to a nice dinner in Old Town, and I had impulsively brought the ring with me. The night and the time felt right, and I asked her to marry me as we sat alone on a bench in the town square. Fortunately, she liked me enough to say yes :D
