When people ask us how we met, we always look at each other and laugh because it is one for the record books. Our paths crossed while we were both on our friend's bachelor and bachelorette parties in Miami in 2019. Today's modern day romance includes people following each other on Instagram, with no intention of seeing that person again. Months went by, and sure enough, we happened to be in New Orleans at the same time while Ben was on another (yes, we know) bachelor party and Kiki was on a vacation with her family and friends. The (what we thought) casual follow on Instagram allowed Kiki to message Ben on this trip, and well, the rest is history. We began talking more and more each day. While Kiki lived in Dallas and Ben lived in Austin, the distance truly made the heart grow fonder. Months went by and feelings started to grow which urged us to give it an honest shot. The casual monthly weekend trips turned into extended visits, and before you know it, Ben packed his bags when the pandemic hit and moved in with Kiki for a couple months. This jumpstarted our relationship and we haven't turned back. Ben always tells Kiki - "If we can make it through the pandemic, we can make it through anything". We have applied that to our relationship ever since. Now here we are, planning our wedding day to celebrate it with the people we love the most. What started as an innocent follow on Instagram, has turned into something so much more. We cannot wait to share what we have with you all.
One thing about Kiki is that she loves the famous El Arroyo sign in Austin, TX. This sign became our daily dose of positivity during the pandemic, and once they started selling ornaments, coffee table books and more, you can be sure we bought everything they offered. Looking back on June 4th, 2022, it was one of the best days of our lives. It started with a nice brunch with Ben's coworkers (he needed an excuse to get Kiki dressed up, duh). After brunch, Ben kept the day open and decided to be "spontaneous". He took her to the Zilker Botanical Gardens since it's been on our to-do list for some time. While it was hot since it was June, Ben was still sweating more than usual in his air-conditioned car. Ben had a place picked out where he was going to get on one knee, with a photographer friend ready to capture the moment. The entire moment happened so quickly, and Kiki was at a loss for words. Ben had to confirm that she said yes because his adrenaline was running so high he just had to make sure. We sunk in the moment and called our parents and close friends while overlooking the downtown skyline. It was incredible. Little did Kiki know, the day has just begun. Ben organized her sisters and some of his closest friends to meet us at, well you guessed it, El Arroyo. Ben pulled some strings and was able to get the El Arroyo sign to quote the great Drake with his lyrics, "Kiki, do you love me?". We celebrated the entire day (and months after) which really made the summer one to remember.
