Travel Note

Flying

The closest major airport to Mackinac Island is Pellston Regional Airport (PLN), which is approximately 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. From there, you can take a short taxi or shuttle ride to the ferry docks. The closest full-service commercial airport is the Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, which is about a two hour drive to Mackinaw City. The Alpena Regional Airport (APN) is about a one and a half hour drive from Mackinaw City. It has daily, Delta-only flights from DTW, as well as rental cars - no shuttle. Detroit Metro is about a four and a half hour drive to Mackinaw City.

Travel Note

Driving

If you're planning to drive, Mackinaw City is the gateway to the island. Located at the northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, Mackinaw City offers secure parking options for your vehicle during your island stay. The Shepler's Ferry Docks are just a short walk or shuttle ride from the parking areas. St. Ignace is also home to a Shepler's Ferry Dock if you wish to cross the scenic Might Mac!

Travel Note

Ferry

Once you reach Mackinaw City, the next step in your journey is a scenic ferry ride to Mackinac Island! Ferries run regularly back and forth from the island every day. When purchasing tickets online at www.sheplersferry.com, use the promotion code "25augwed" for a discounted rate. It is case sensitive and will need to be used in all lower case. Please note this code can only be used on “Basic” Adult Ferry Tickets. Ferry tickets are available for sale now and the code will remain active through the day of our wedding. Our guests can also reference our wedding name at the ticket office if you are purchasing tickets at time of arrival. Ferry tickets are valid for any day and any time. Don't forget to check the ferry schedule in advance to coordinate with the weekend's events.

Travel Note

Horse & Carriage

Call Carriage Tours at (906) 847 - 3323. The horse-drawn taxi cabs are radio dispatched and available 24 hours during the summer season. Taxi cabs cannot be "hailed" on Mackinac Island, rather, you must call the taxi dispatch office to request taxi service. Taxi drivers are only able to accept cash. ATMs are available at the taxi stand and at the Island banks.
