Zach and Kierra met in the spring of 2012 at Duquesne University. They were both part of Greek Life and met through their fraternity (Phi Kappa Theta) and sorority (Alpha Phi). They were friends all through college but it wasn’t until Zach’s fraternity alumni Christmas party in December 2018 when Kierra went to the party with their mutual friend (and future groomsman), Andrew, that they reconnected. They started officially dating in January 2019 and knew pretty quickly we were meant to be.
Zach had been planning to propose to Kierra at a ghost hunt at the Conneaut Hotel on March 28th with his team at Ghost N’at. But due to Covid-19, unfortunately the event had to be canceled. Zach had to think of something that would still be memorable, despite everything being closed and not being able to be around all our friends and family. When Kierra’s dad passed away in August 2019, Zach was upset that he never got the chance to ask him for permission to marry Kierra. He also knew Kierra thought cemeteries were pretty and they have a shared loved of spooky things. This gave Zach the idea to propose when they went to cemetery to visit her dad. Kierra was so surprised and couldn’t believe it! She loved that Zach thought of a way to include her dad and was able to pull off the ultimate surprise!
