FAQs

Question

Didn't I hear you're already married?

Answer

We are! We legally got married in 2024 in a tiny paperwork ceremony for just us and our parents. For a number of reasons, primarily Julian still working incredibly hard to get his degree, it was not going to be a good time for us to host a large gathering. --- Now that Julian is going to be graduated from college, we wanted to take the opportunity for our loved ones to gather together with us and each other! Many of our loved ones from childhood and loved ones from adulthood haven't had the chance to meet yet, and since we have so much fun spending time with you all we're using our much-belated wedding reception as a chance to do so.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

We're encouraging guests to dress between "dressy formal" and "semi-casual". That means dresses, skirts and slacks with dressy tops or button downs, and pantsuits are all welcome! Jackets and ties are optional. But more important than ANYTHING else is our guests comfort. We are getting married in a park so we strongly encourage practical shoes (even if they're casual). We'll have activities like (plastic) axe throwing and badminton and want everyone to feel comfortable in their outfits for any activities.

Question

Your registry is fairly empty, do you really not want gifts?

Answer

We really mean it! We're lucky enough to have a wonderful house and life together. But that house is rather small and already full to bursting. We also understand that Ferndale is out of the way for many of our guests, and genuinely appreciate your ability to join us as gift enough.

Question

I'm travelling in from out of town, where should I stay?

Answer

While we love Ferndale (although we're biased, as our friends live there) it is a very small town! The beautiful city of Bellingham is a 15 minute drive away and we recommend guests who are coming for more than the day find accommodations there. Hotel Leo offers a great location to cost, and Lavissh Inn and Suites is excellent for anyone looking for a budget option.

Question

Does the park have ammenities? What's the access like?

Answer

Hovander park has wonderful amenities and access for us! They have a full cover and cement floor for our reception area, and full bathrooms a short walk away (~300 feet). There is a dropoff area for anyone who needs it near the reception area that has about a 100 foot walk on grass between the sidewalk drop off and the pavilion. If anyone is concerned about accessibility issues, please contact Kiersten, Julian, Mark or Tamra and we will find out what we can do to help.
