Kieran first moved to Roatan in 2013, but Lauren wouldn't arrive till the summer of 2015. It would take a while till their paths crossed, but shortly after Kieran's 30's birthday he realized he was aging too quickly and must find himself a lady with some serious potential. Lo and behold who showed up, but a sassy Texan! Well maybe we both had some matchmaker help from our mutual friend, Rika (gracias!) From dates oceanside under the stars, to gelato, to fancy baleada dinners, I mean it doesn't get more romantic than sunset drinks at Sundowners. Next thing you know, these two fell fast for each other! Quickly running into their first major challenge, Kieran's brain tumor. After navigating through that storm, Kieran emerged healthily and returned to Roatan to rejoin Lauren. Whew, talk about a close call. From that point on it became clear to each of them that relationship was truly something special and nothing like a brain tumor was going to get in the way of the love they have for the other.
When we visited Kieran's family and friends in England for the Christmas holidays, Kieran's parents Helen and John kindly rented a cottage in the iconic Yorkshire Dales for a week. Little did anyone know that this would prove perfect for Kieran's quickly forming plans... So the Reeves family along with Sami (the dog) headed north for some beautiful wintery walks and proper English Pubs! Lauren, Kieran and Joe decided to visit the historic city of York, England. One of the sights they wanted to visit was York Minster, a huge gothic Medieval Cathedral with amazing views of the city from its central tower. To Kieran this seemed like the perfect place to 'pop the question.' He brings his brother Joe in as an accomplice and official photographer. After a long, twisting climb up the stone staircase they arrive only to discover the entire viewing area of the tower was caged-in for public safety! Not only did it feel like a prison, but in true English winter weather fashion, it started raining. This obviously would not do. Kieran hastily signaled 'abort' to Joe and crossed his fingers that a Plan B would show up. Just as our day in York was ending, the clouds relented, the sun broke through, and the three decided to take a walk along Yorks ancient city walls to watch the sunset. Upon reaching the top of the walls it was perfect! Kieran slyly handed Joe the camera, told Lauren how much she meant to him and got down on one knee... She said yes.
