How We Met

10/2013

We first knew of each other in our human communication's class freshman year of college at St. Scholastica in 2013. Nick knew me as the "cute girl in the pink shirt" on the first day of class and I just thought of him as the strong football player who did a speech on how to do squats. A month later, our mutual friend convinced Nick that he should talk to me at a party because she knew I was interested in him. From the moment we started talking, the rest is history! We dated all throughout the different stages of college, moving to the cities, living together, getting a puppy and kitty, and now moving to Oregon! We CANNOT wait to take on this life together.

The Proposal

08/13/2020

I knew the proposal was getting close after I was bummed when Nick didn't propose during one of our trips up north and he let it slip that the ring was being made and I wouldn't have to wait much longer. Chris (Nick's brother) and his girlfriend, Danielle, came to visit from Oregon for a week and so we all got together at Nick's parent's house for a few days. The day of the proposal we went out on the boat and of course I whined when everyone convinced me we had to go back early to get ready for dinner. Because Nick's Nana was coming to dinner (and she has the best style), everyone told me we needed to get dressed in something other than athletic shorts and put makeup on. Not thinking anything of it, we got ready and decided we should take the dogs for a walk so they weren’t antsy when Nana came over. We all walked over to a nearby lake and Danielle convinced me to go to the shade because it was hot, while the boys went to throw toys for our dogs. Little did I know Nick was putting a sign around Olive's (our dog) neck that said "Mom, will you marry Dad already?". Olive came running up to me and then when I turned around, Nick was down on one knee. Of course I said yes!!
