Julian and I met after my family and I had moved across the country to live in Madison, Alabama. In October of 2012, after transferring schools, I walked into my new fourth grade classroom at Horizon elementary and we almost instantly became best friends. After making memories and teasing each other on the playground became our normalcy, we started “dating” nearly a year later. However, not too long after this my family decided to move once more to North Carolina before the start of sixth grade. With this in mind, we decided to continue our relationship despite the distance and young age which persisted for the next two years. We made plenty of long distance trips to visit one another with family and the consistent face time calls never ceased. Nonetheless, towards the end of seventh grade, we felt that it was time for us to part ways and experience all that life had to offer us… or so we thought! Even though Julian and I had separated, we kept in touch through social media and spent time together every summer that I came to visit family in Alabama. Despite the awkward and nerdy phases we both experianced growing up, we still felt (unknowingly) the love we had had for one another. At times we attempted to get back together as we stayed in touch, but life had always gotten in the way. That all changed when senior year of high school, Julian surprised me by traveling to North Carolina for my high school graduation party in May of 2021. The following night, after spending time with church family, friends, and rekindling our longtime friendship, Julian asked me if I would be willing to give a relationship another try. Without hesitation, I said yes and we began dating a few months later on July 3rd of 2021. We grew our love from the ground up despite the many obstacles we faced while being long distance lovers in college, God blessed our relationship and left us with a number of stories to tell! Through lots of prayer, a year and a half later on December 25th, 2022, Julian proposed in Huntsville, Alabama with our family and friends to celebrate. So, although this may be the shortened version of our lengthy story, we cannot wait to keep “Our Story” going for years to come starting on August 12th of 2023. We are both immensely thankful for what the Lord has done in our lives and pray that our marriage reflects who He is no matter what this life has to offer.
