With so many mutual interests, workplaces, and friends, you would think Katie and I (Andy) would have long been friends. But if all the ways we could’ve met, it was a friendly message on Instagram that connected them. Late in the spring of 2018, a friendship slowly began to develop between us which consisted of mostly quick back and forth joking and the occasional discussion of politics or philosophy or religion. After a month or so, we met for coffee. The friendship, which was natural over messages and video, was even more so in person. What was supposed to be a quick chat became several hours of authenticity and a shared passion for pursuing God’s will. After a couple casual coffee chats and a walk in the park, feelings, while unspoken, had come over both of us. On July 29th at 4:13 AM, the thing everyone but we had expected happened as the “official” dating period began. The rest has breezed by, even months of trans-Pacific long distance dating couldn’t come between us. The stories we could share couldn’t fit in this space, and we are grateful for each one of them. Most importantly, we trust that God is leading us both in the right direction and that he has the perfect plan for our lives.
