It all started in 2006, Anna decided to take a leap of faith and move to Philadelphia with an amazing friend, Katie Miller. To celebrate their achievement of moving to the big city, they invited everyone to come check out their new spot. Justin was one of those great friends. Best of all, he didnt come empty handed. They crossed paths on Katie and Anna’s second day in Philadelphia. Justin and Anna talked for most of the night. They had a really great time enjoying each other’s company. They exchanged info (phone number, email addresses, screen names, smoke signals ;) ) and made a promise to see each other soon. A couple days later, they were on their first date. It was definitely a ROCKY first date but their bond was undeniable. They spent that night in each others’ arms while Justin talked about greek mythology. Anna should have learned something that night. Their love completely blossomed that summer, after a week break, they knew they couldn’t be apart. Life has tried to bring these two together several times before. Attending the same parties, invitations to the same concerts, mutual friends, life had big plans for these two. A house, a dog and a wonderful child later, these two have had the time of their lives cruising through life’s journey together. They have had some unforgettable moments together, some which I’m sure will be mentioned during a toast or two along the way to the special day. If you have any special and or funniest stories you’d like to share, please send them along with your RSVP. We would love to hear from you.
This date may seem familiar to a lot of you. It is the day our beautiful daughter, Margot Lennon Gearhart, was born. It was a rough labor. After about 14 hours of trying to avoid a ceseran section, the time came. I was crushed. Justin knew how much a natural birth meant to me but he vowed to stick by my side the whole time. Even during some of the more gruesome parts, he never so much as winced. He went above and beyond to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. When our beautiful child entered this world, it was a rough arrival for her. She was whisked away to the NICU for further observation and testing. Unfortunately, I was unable to see her for a couple of days while I healed. It tore me apart to know I couldn’t hold my baby the way I had imagined for the last nine months. Justin was there to comfort me and let me know how beautiful and healthy she was. He reminded me that this was only temporary and we would have the rest of our lives to spend as a family. Through all of his beautiful words and his comforting touch, I could tell his mind was preoccupied. I thought he was just worried about Margot but I had a gut feeling that it was something more. Before I knew it, he sat down beside me and the tears started to roll down his cheeks. I was scared and nervous. He pulled out this beautiful ring that had been burning a hole in his pocket the entire day. Through his trembling voice, he mustered up the courage to ask me to be his wife. I have never been speechless in my life. I literally always have something say, as most of you know. This time, the tears formed faster than my response. Not only did we bring a baby into this world that day but he decided to take our family to the next level. He decided that I would be the one he wanted to spend his life with. The one he wanted to laugh and cry with. The one he would come home to every night. The one he wanted to grow old with. It was little old me. That day will stay with me forever.
Anna and Justin will be celebrating their 13th anniversary this summer! Times flies when you’re in love.
