Our journey began in the summer of 2010. What started as a meeting between mutual friends slowly turned into a high school romance. Together we spent two years working through calculus problems, reading Shakespeare, and marching in the band throughout the fall. When our high school careers ended in the spring of 2012, we were each faced with a difficult decision: which university to attend to pursue our passions. Ultimately, we decided to attend different institutions, with Katie becoming an educator at Grand Valley State University and Trevor learning engineering at Wayne State University. Although we were on different sides of the state, our love continued to grow through constant communication and summer vacations spent at home. In the spring of 2016, we were faced with yet another tough decision: Trevor wanted to purse an advanced degree at Iowa State University. Although the distance between us would increase substantially, the love and trust we had in one another never faltered. During this time, we often discussed what our future would be like, and we counted the days until it would come to fruition. Finally, following Trevor’s graduation in the spring of 2018, we were together once again. That summer, we spent every hour outside of work with one another. No school, no homework, just time for our passion to grow. But we wanted more as a couple, so we decided to move out of our parents’ homes and into our own. In the fall of 2018, we moved into our first apartment together. It was at this point that the future we always dreamed of was finally becoming a reality. We supported one another through tough times, successfully navigated our careers, and developed a lifelong friendship that has become unbreakable. Then, during the summer of 2019, we got engaged. What started out as a friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and together we are thrilled that you will be there when we say “I do” on 10/16/21.
