Needing a change of scenery, Kelsey went to visit an old friend at MSU for a weekend. Dan happened to be that friend's roommate at the time. By Sunday, the dishes had piled up and taken over the sink. Kelsey offered to do the dishes for the house full of boys, but surprisingly they were out of dish soap. When Dan grabbed his keys to make a run for supplies, Kelsey invited herself along and so begins their journey!

After several weeks of consistent texting, phone calls, and facetimes Dan made the trip from MSU to Mizzou to take her out on their first official date. A patio lunch, ice cream at Sparky's, and ending the night at the Mizzou Columns. They didn't have much planned but remember the day being easy going and relaxed; a pleasant theme that continued throughout their relationship.

Dan proposed at their home on a Thursday evening while an episode of The Office was playing in the background. Dan had asked Kelsey if she wanted some tea, and when he brought it out to her the ring was tied to the string resting outside of the mug.
