It was a snowy, winter day in January 2022 and Kiandra had managed to catch Covid. All she wanted was a can of soup, so she dragged herself out the house, drove to Kroger, and to her disdain, found them to be completely out of soup. Dejected, she jokingly made a post on social media, asking someone to bring her some soup. To her surprise, Brodus messaged her saying "I'm at Walmart right now, I can bring you some." A few days after he brought her soup, the two decided to go and get some dinner at Chili's. During the dinner, Brodus talked Kiandra's head off, but the day ended with the two bonding over their love for running. After that day, the pair made plans to go on a short run together. One Saturday turned into the next, and before you knew it, Brodus and Kiandra were running together every weekend. Up until that summer, when Kiandra had to go to Utah for a research project. While there, she flirted with the idea of running a half marathon. In need of a training partner, Kiandra brought the idea up to Brodus who, after a little bit of convincing, eventually agreed. Once she returned to Tennessee in August, the two picked up right where they left off. They ran every weekend and sometimes even a few times a week in preparation for the big day. Soon enough, race days turned to date nights and the rest is history.
