Kiana and Justin first met through a college professor, who introduced them over email after learning that Kiana wanted to plan music-centered events. The professor happened to know a former student who was already producing them: Justin. They started working together and stayed friends well after the work ended. Over time, their friendship grew through a shared love of music. They started texting more, mostly sending each other songs, going to concerts, and finding more reasons to hang out. Eventually, those shared interests expanded beyond music into food, travel, and all the little adventures they still love doing together. After many years of friendship, they finally started dating. Since then, the music, the fun, the trips, and the friendship that started it all have only continued. And now, here we are (:

A handful of years later, one of Kiana’s favorite bands, Queens of the Stone Age, announced an intimate, one-of-a-kind show in Joshua Tree. It was a perfect reason for a weekend away, so Kiana, Justin, and a group of friends got tickets and booked an Airbnb for a weekend of music, desert air, and time together. After consideration, Justin realized it was also the perfect place to propose. To keep the surprise alive, one of their friends asked Kiana to help get his wife out of the house so he could decorate for their own anniversary. Kiana, fully believing she was helping with someone else’s surprise, happily went along with the plan. When she came back to the house, the surprise was actually waiting for her. Justin proposed, surrounded by some of their closest friends, and they spent the rest of the night celebrating in the most fitting way possible: at an incredible concert in Joshua Tree. It was very them: music, friends, a surprise, and a celebration that felt perfectly fitting.
