the beginning

9.21.2021

I was intrigued by the new transfer student in my volleyball class at Westmont College, in beautiful Santa Barbara. She caught my eye being the only girl who could jump serve and actually spike the ball. Hmmmm, she’s athletic. *Check mark*. Driven by my curiosity to find out more about the new cute girl behind the covid mask in my class led to careful sleuthing and modest text, “Caleb Young :) from vball.” - C

I kinda like you

10.3.2021

This was the seventh day in a row he had asked me to hangout... I knew something was up. Instead of our usual homework on campus spot, he suggested we go to Thousand Steps beach. As we sat on a rock and watched the prettiest sunset and lightning show, Caleb expressed his interest in me. Still in the very shy stage, I responded simply with... "I kinda like you". It started pouring rain, and we ran back down the beach to the car, soaked and with the biggest smiles on our faces. It truly was the most RomCom moment. -K

Will you be my girlfriend?

2.1.2022

After getting Kiana father’s permission to date her, I was beyond happy. Returning to Santa Barbara the next day, we went back to the rock at Thousand Steps beach. As the sun was setting, I asked Kiana if she would be my girlfriend. She quickly responded, “Heck yes,” but I don’t know if it was the excitement combined with the crashing waves but later when telling my family the story, she corrected me. Apparently I misheard her. She had actually said “I guess.” Did I miss the opportunity to have a cool anniversary date of 2.2.2022. Yes. But, I just couldn't wait... even a day longer. -C

Will you marry me?

10.26.2024

Here we are back at Thousand Steps beach, where it all started 3 1/2 years ago. Was I suspicious? Maybe a little...Caleb had spent an hour picking out his outfit for the day, my mom had asked me if my nails were done, and he let it slip that his sister was coming home for a "celebration". With all that said, it still didn't feel real until he knelt down on one knee and popped the question. I was speechless (after saying yes of course), filled with all the emotions, as I turned and saw our family running up to us. It was a pretty perfect day. -K
