I was Instagram Stalking for a friend with same name as Dr. Dhru’s and I sent out a request to him, which he accepted! Then began initial texting the first day, immediately found a connect with him! Although, going by my Instagram profile he wasn’t really interested in me. He thought I was bit too americanized and full of attitude. Again this was just by glancing through my profile. While texting all day the very first day, we found lot of mutual family and friends. I couldn’t understand why I was talking to a stranger so much the first day itself, I thought of going forward and call him to hear his voice. I made the first call, full of laughter and conversation, lasted 45 mins or so. Next day morning I decided to facetime, our first facetime call lasted 6 hours… Endless facetime calls led to new findings on eachother and how similar we are, from love for our vaghareli khichdi to old bollywood jam to the mix of lifestyle we wanted..we decided to give us a shot and we’re here, getting married.

Shiv had been planning a beautiful proposal for little over 2 months. We had a trip planned for Florida with Shiv’s cousins, 3 days in Orlando and 2 days in Miami. Shiv had planned the proposal for last day in Miami. We love to dress up and like to get take pictures with beautiful lanscapes (or even in general for me) Shiv had mentioned a place called Vizcaya Museum and had told me last day everyone can go for a nice classy lunch all together, so I dressed up on a really hot muggy day. Little did I know there were photographers waiting for us… since it was first time for both of us at the location, we struggled finding the proposal spot that Shiv and photographers had decided. I was super annoyed because I could barely walk with heels on. Luckily we finally reached the spot and he said “I’d like to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?” Although I knew I was marrying him, it all still came as a shock and left me shivering.
