Black tie formal is a dress code typically reserved for elegant evening events such as galas, weddings, formal dinners, or award ceremonies. It's one step below white tie (the most formal) and demands a polished, sophisticated appearance.

- Tuxedo (Dinner Jacket) BLACK - Formal white shirt: often with a pleated front and french cuffs - Black bow tie: traditionally silk - Black formal shoe: patent leather oxfords or opera pumps or patent leather loafers * Optional: Cummerbund or waistcoat, black formal socks, and sometimes a pocket square or studs and cufflinks
