We're Getting Married!

We met in October 2016 in Washington DC during a prayer walk for the water. We both had been to Standing Rock in North Dakota with plans and desires to return. We met again several months later at Standing Rock in December as we both committed to staying the winter. Despite the harsh snow storms and negative wind chill, our friendship grew into more. By February 2017 we were leaving together for a longer life journey with an added addition of a furry companion Shanti Moon.

The Standing Rock camps were situated on both sides of the Cannonball river in North Dakota and the Gunpowder river in Maryland was the first place we came to after leaving Standing Rock. Jonah already knew, he wanted to spend a lifetime together and asked me to marry him right there. Charmed and amused by the proposal, I said maybe... but let's spend some more time together and learn a few things. It would be several years, international travel, cross-country roadtrips, time spent apart, online schooling, health crisis & healing, and a world pandemic before Jonah asked again. Kat's mom, Marsha, gave Kat an inherited ring passed down through the family. The origin was unknown and the design a little outdated. We took the ring to Smyth (local jewelry family company) and working with the wonderful Mrs. Signh, Jonah picked a new designer and setting 💍 And to conclude our proposal story, like a circle, we land back on the banks of the Gunpowder river. This time on a cold December day, Jonah asked if I would marry him and of course this time I said Yes!!!
