6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
At least business casual. Colorful clothing (at least a splash!) is encouraged.
A less formal gathering at the same location the night before the wedding. Invitees are family and the bridal/groom parties, and we're treating it similarly to a rehearsal dinner. Expect dinner and music! Dress comfortably—this is less formal than the baraat. Here's a program! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ooMtqAqGR6j001Lmbg-kzDE0PZhiVzQ4/view?usp=sharing
6:00 pm
A more formal event. Think suit and tie, nice dresses, etc. See the FAQ for more details on the dress code!
A Baraat is typically the second and most important day of any typical Desi wedding. On this day, the couple signs the Nikkahnama, or marriage contract, formally committing to one another in marriage. (We have already done this, but we intend to do something similar.) The baraat also marks the formal union of the two families, with the bride's family receiving the groom's family at the door and participating in a few rituals to signify their newfound bond. This day is also marked with feasting, singing, dancing, and colorful clothing. The closest Western analogue is the wedding reception. We anticipate incorporating some Western traditions, like speeches and such, into the events this day.
