Question

Do I need a Visa?

Answer

Depending on your citizenship, you'll likely need a visa to enter Egypt. you can usually get it on arrival, but it may be easier to apply for an e-visa online ahead of your travel to avoid long lines at the airport. You can do this at the Egypt E-Visa Portal. It should cost around $25.

Question

How to Transport From the Airport to My Staying Accommodation?

Answer

Though you can technically use an Uber, we would not recommend that upon arrival because it can be difficult to find a driver. We recommend either arranging transportation through your hotel, a service like London Cab, or through limousine companies that you'll find inside the airport near baggage claim.

Question

What Is The Best Way To Transport Day to Day Within Cairo?

For transport within Cairo, we recommend Uber. Other rideshare apps include Careem and DiDi, but Uber tends to be better most of the time. Expect rides around the city to average around $1-$6, depending on distance and surge pricing. Always use your card and avoid cash. SAFETY TIP: Please try to pair up as much as you can for safety purposes. Don't take Ubers for long distances alone. Pay attention to the map during your ride.

Egypt is currently experiencing hyperinflation and currency devaluation. The official USD to Egyptian Pound conversion rate is around 1 USD to 50 EGP at the time of writing this guide. Note that it might be difficult to convert Egyptian Pounds back to USD once you've exchanged them. Tipping is generally expected with most transactions in Egypt.
