Just a small town girl Livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train Goin' anywhere Just a city boy Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York He took the midnight train Goin' anywhere
Megan and I met during our first year of law school at Stanford in 2011. We were assigned to the same small-group section (Fightin' Fifth!) so we got to know each other pretty quickly. The beginning of our friendship was filled with many long talks and marathon viewings of The Boondocks. I was shocked by how much we had in common and how comfortable I was around her. When we first started dating, we both emphasized that we weren't looking for a serious relationship. . . . The next quarter, we were in a serious relationship. We haven't looked back since.
Kevin proposed while we were in Vernazza, Italy, celebrating our five-year anniversary. That night, we were having dinner on our terrace and enjoying some of the best things in life: good music, laughter, Italian food, champagne, and a beautiful sunset over the ocean. As the night went on and the stars started to come out, I began to hear odd beeping noises coming from behind me -- noises that Kevin repeatedly denied hearing. It turned out those noises were coming from a strategically placed bluetooth speaker Kevin had set up hours before with a playlist full of some of my favorite songs. We danced to the playlist until an instrumental version of "For Your Precious Love" began to play. Kevin took out a notebook and read some amazing verses he had written for the occasion. He ended by getting on one knee and asking me to be his wife. It was the perfect night.
