FAQs

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

September is one of our favorite times of year in the Adirondacks—but the weather likes to keep everyone guessing! Expect anything from crisp 30°F mornings to sunny 70–80°F afternoons, with the possibility of rain, fog, or even an early-season snow flurry. Mountain weather can change quickly, so layers are your best friend.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Here’s our recommended packing list: * Cocktail attire for the wedding * Mountain casual clothes for the Welcome Barbecue * A light jacket or fleece * A warm evening layer * Rain jacket or compact umbrella * Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers * Shoes suitable for grass and gravel (heels are not recommended) * Bathing suit (if the weather cooperates—or you’re brave enough for the polar plunge!) * Sunglasses When in doubt, pack one extra layer. You’ll probably be glad you did.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Welcome Barbecue Mountain Casual Think flannels, sweaters, fleeces, jeans, boots, sneakers, and relaxed Adirondack camp style. Wedding Cocktail Attire The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors, with the reception indoors. For men, suits or sport coats are perfect (ties optional). For women, cocktail dresses, dressy separates, or elegant jumpsuits are all great choices.

Question

What about shoes?

Answer

Comfort matters! The Adirondacks are full of grass, gravel roads, docks, trails, and uneven natural terrain. Comfortable shoes will make your weekend much more enjoyable. Flats, wedges, loafers, dress boots, or block heels are all great choices. If you’re planning to wear heels, consider bringing a second pair of shoes for walking outdoors. Please note there is a scenic walk of a few hundred yards between the ceremony and cocktail hour.

Question

Will I have cell service?

Answer

Maybe—but don’t count on it everywhere. Cell service in the Adirondacks can be spotty, especially once you leave the main roads. Most lodging and venues offer Wi-Fi, but we’d encourage you to embrace a little time offline. The mountains have a way of helping everyone slow down and unplug.

Question

Will there be bugs?

Answer

Thankfully, late September is one of the best times of year to visit. Most summer insects are long gone, and bugs are typically minimal.

Question

Any final Adirondack advice?

Answer

The Adirondacks are wonderfully relaxed. Around here, comfort always beats fashion, layers beat forecasts, and good shoes beat fancy ones. Pack for changing weather, take time to enjoy the mountains, and don’t forget your camera—the fall foliage is spectacular. Most importantly, come ready to relax, celebrate, and make memories with us in one of our favorite places.
