PORTUGAL QUESTIONS

Answer

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Please check your passport in advance to make sure it does not expire before the wedding. Here is the link to renew your passport: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew-online.html

Question

Do I need a Visa or any vaccines?

Answer

No, you do not need a Visa to fly into Portugal. No special vaccines are recommended.

Question

Can I drink the water in Portugal?

Answer

Yes! It is safe to drink the water in Portugal.

Question

Will I have cell phone service?

Answer

We recommend contacting your cell phone service provider to find out about international plans. Most providers will have an international plan that is a certain price per day (ie Verizon is $12/day). Most places in Portugal will also have wifi that you can connect to.

Question

Do people speak English in Portugal?

Answer

Yes! Most people speak English in the major cities. If you want to learn a few phrases in Portuguese, the locals are very appreciative of any effort made to speak the language.

Question

When should I book my flight?

Answer

International flights are typically cheapest 2-4 months out - so think about starting to look in late 2025 and lock something down in early 2026. We recommend flying into Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), the international airport in Lisbon. There are direct flights from many major U.S. cities, including New York (EWR and JFK), Boston, Miami, D.C., Philly, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

Wedding questions

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The rehearsal dinner/ welcome party attire is dressy casual- think flowy dresses, slacks and polo or button down, comfortable shoes for dancing. For the wedding day, we vote go all out! The bridal party will be wearing black, so colors for the guests are encouraged. We're making you come all the way to Portugal, so you might as well dress extravagantly. Sparkles, feathers, colorful suits, why not? However, a lot of the wedding will be outside with some gravel areas, so we recommend comfortable foot wear. Partying and dancing will last all night long, so feel free to bring an extra pair of dancing shoes or even a comfortable change of clothes.

Question

Are children allowed at the wedding?

Answer

We adore your tiny humans, but this will be an adults-only celebration. Take the night to dress up, let loose, and enjoy a kid-free dance floor—no baby monitors, bedtime routines, or sticky fingers in the cake.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Obviously. We hope you take full advantage of it.

Question

Do I get a +1 ?

Answer

Absolutely! We truly appreciate your willingness to travel to Europe to celebrate with us. Whether you are bringing your significant other, your best friend, or your mom, we want you to have a travel buddy.

Question

Is there parking on site?

Answer

Yes, there is parking at the venue. However, we don't recommend driving if you are drinking. We will be arranging transportation from the recommended hotel to the venue on both nights!

Question

Do I have to come to the welcome dinner?

Answer

All guests are invited, but we understand if you can't make it to the welcome dinner!

Question

How long should we take off for the wedding?

Answer

We recommend taking off 5/25/2026 (Memorial Day) - 5/29/2026 so you can enjoy Portugal or another country in Europe. Kevin and Nikki are planning to arrive in Lisbon on Sunday, 5/24/2026 and stay until Friday, 5/29/2026. They will head off to their honeymoon likely on Saturday 5/30/2026.

For all the days along the way
