Kevin and Makayla met at Church Camp in August 2010 and ironically, both weren't supposed to go to camp that year. They were introduced to each other by a close friend and of course, Makayla thought differently and wasn't impressed by Kevin at all. To her surprise, she ended up picking his name out of the box as his "secret pen pal." During the week of Church Camp, Kevin and Makayla continuously wrote to each other anonymously and he tried to figure out who this "secret pen pal" was. Who would've thought that two complete strangers can develop feelings through letters? Well, it happened to the both of them. On the very last day of Church camp, Makayla decided to reveal her identity to Kevin and before they had departed the campgrounds, he had manned up to ask for her phone number. That was the last time they spoke before going on their separate ways and losing contact with each other for a couple years. Fast forward to Spring of 2012, they reconnected via Facebook and Kevin decided to drive from Banning, CA on a ~360 mile trip (about 6 hours) all the way up North to Merced, CA to visit Makayla. Little did they know, this spontaneous trip would seal their fate together! They became a couple on March 29, 2012, a few years later got engaged at Two Top Mountain in Montana on July 13, 2016, tied the knot traditionally on April 17, 2021, and will finally be celebrating their wedding after a decade of being together on April 9th, 2022! They continued their long distance relationship for many years with ups and downs. Through thick and thin, both struggled through college together and kept each other strong knowing eventually their day will come. In their early years, Kevin worked as a Swing Manager at McDonald's and Makayla was part of the Team Leader at Panda Express as they both went through college. Now, Kevin and Makayla have finished their careers respectively as a Clinical Lab Scientist and Registered Nurse. They will finally be able to start their lives together.
