We never knew exactly when we fell in love with each other. It seemed like we walked into it instead. Just like a child learning to walk, our relationship took delicate steps to get to where we are right now. Kevin and I began as friends who became closer through our faith. We took our first and most difficult step of the journey when we both confessed our feelings for each other. It was the most difficult because we know that even though we had let the other person know how we felt, we knew that there was no guarantee that both of us will date. Our second step was just as difficult as the first knowing the weight of what commitment was. Dating for the both of us meant that we would want to be wed with the person ultimately. It took time for us to think about it and discern before we made the next step. Along our walk, we came across a bump in the road. Kevin was going to be deployed in Kuwait just as when I was ready to tell him that I wanted to date him. I prayed and hoped that he wouldn't have to leave and God answered my prayer! However, our faith and friendship were tested when Kevin developed an autoimmune disease. It was a mountain that we had to overcome which taught us a lot of things. Despite the difficulty of the situation, I learned to accept who he was during and who he will be after this trial. He was drowning in pain physically and emotionally but he kept afloat thru his faith. I saw his determination, faithfulness, trust, and humility carried on through one of the most challenging chapter of his life. We kept walking other through these hardships and suddenly, we got to the place where we found real love and acceptance from each other. We were finally committed to be with each other and were ready to take the last step before our relationship sailed. Since we started dating, we knew that our only destination is to be by each other's side as husband and wife living for the Lord.
