Travel Note
For most people flying from the East Coast or Arizona, the connecting airports will be from Dallas or Houston. There might be one or two flights from Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit on other Mexican Airlines, but American Airlines and United flights are from Dallas or Houston. Those airlines would be Aeromexico, Viva Aerobus and Volaris. For anyone flying from Southern California, you do have the option of flying direct out of Tijuana. This option is a very affordable way to fly, and you can drive directly to the US side of the border, park and walk into customs through the airport. Flights are very cheap and have options to fly into both QRO or BJX. I have personally taken this route before and it is quite an easy airport/customs to navigate. Option 1: The Leon/Guanajuato BJX airport is about an hour and 20 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. There are taxis, group shuttles, and private shuttles available. Shuttle services and private drivers should be booked in advance. Please see the shuttle service Bajio Go that I listed below. Option 2: The Queretaro (QRO) airport is about an hour and 20 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. There are several flights a day on various airlines. There are also taxis, group shuttles, and private shuttles available. Shuttle services and private drivers should be booked in advance. Please see the shuttle service Bajio Go that I listed below. Both QRO and BJX are comparable airports and the same distance from SMA. It is just what works best for your travel schedule. San Miguel de Allende is 3.5 hours from Mexico City for anyone who would prefer to travel to Mexico City first, you can fly or shuttle from Mexico City too. I have heard that the buses and shuttles are nice this would be something I would recommend doing some further research on.
Travel Note
Here is a local transport company that we suggest upon your arrival. We have used this company, and they came recommend by local family friends of ours. There are other transport companies linked to certain hotels and Air BNBs. Make sure to check with host or hotels if that is an option. Typical transport costs should be $30 per person. You can book a private transfer for $175. If you have a group of 6 or more it’s the same price and you can get a private transfer! When calling you can mention you are apart of the Brewster wedding and they will put you on a shuttle with other wedding guest if possible!
Travel Note
We suggest staying in or near Zona Centro, unless you are wanting to explore outside the city. After arriving to town by shuttle or taxi you can get around by foot. The city itself is walkable and you don’t need a car to explore. That said, Uber or taxis are readily available to get you around the city if in a hurry. Uber is very reliable, taxis will require cash.
Travel Note
Air BNB is a lovely and affordable way to experience San Miguel de Allende. San Miguel has some beautiful options for rentals, as well as a ton of boutique hotels! It will be the most affordable option for guests. Some have mentioned that booking.com has some great smaller boutique hotels too!
Hotel
This is where Kevin & Madison along with some friends and family will be staying. We are staying for a week, so we plan to spend about 2-3 nights at the Rosewood, and then a few nights with family in an Air BnB
Hotel
Fabulous boutique hotel, has more affordable rates than the Rosewood.
