We are so excited to celebrate with you!

We met during arguably one of the most boring weeks of our lives: law school orientation. Lydia says she noticed Kevin's sweet smile from across the classroom and decided to try and flirt with him...and Kevin says he had no idea Lydia was trying to flirt. Throughout the week, all that was shared between us were some awkward head nods in the hallway, which probably explains why Kevin had no idea Lydia was flirting. On Friday, a handful of kids from our section were headed to the local watering hole, AC's, for some cheap drinks and chicken fingers. With a little help from friends, Kevin finally realized Lydia was into him and the rest is history!

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Kevin flew down from Indianapolis to Lydia's hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Lydia had been out shopping with her mom, grandma, and sister and Kevin spent the day with Lydia's dad. When Lydia and the girls returned from shopping, Lydia's mom pulled the car over near the gazebo at her parent's neighborhood that overlooked the lake. The pathway to the gazebo was lined with a thick layer of pine needles from the cypress trees surrounding it and Christmas lights lined the trees, creating a sweet ambiance. Kevin stood at the end of the path and, well, you know the rest!

On the way home from shopping, Lydia's mom tried stalling the trip back to the house by "needing a diet coke" from the gas station so that Kevin and Lydia's dad could get ready. Lydia was absolutely starving from all the shopping so she asked her mom to get her something at the gas station to munch so she didn't get hangry before dinner. Lydia's mom, fully aware of the pending proposal, decided she would get her daughter Lay's Barbecue Chips. If you've never had them, the wreck havoc on one's breath. While Lydia unknowingly prepped for a smelly engagement kiss, Kevin dealt with an angry man with a thick Russian accent guarding the gazebo Kevin had deliberately planned to propose at. Neighborhood watch of some sort, we guess. The angry man refused to leave the gazebo without seeing someone who lived in the neighborhood there but, after much convincing, the angry Russian man took his cigarette and Bud Light and walked to the dock to chat on the phone. When Lydia got there, it was absolutely magical. Other than Kevin opening the ring box upside down and overhearing a lovely Russian conversation, it was everything they both dreamed of. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the event because the phone being used to document the proposal didn't record. If you know us, you know this is the only way we'd really want it - with a darn good story. Our lives are goofy, unpredictable, and downright fun and we can't wait to keep it that way for the rest of our lives!
