There are people you meet in your life that you know are special. If you’re lucky you might meet a handful of these people in your life. One of them will have such an impact on you that you just can’t get them out of your head. Most people are lucky just to meet one of these amazing, life changing, once in a lifetime people. I’m marrying one. You can wait and wait your whole life for something that is never coming, while the adventurous bits of life you never saw coming blow right on past you. It was a moment just like that when Kim and I blew back into each other's lives. We met in 2013 training in Jiu Jitsu. Like everyone who first meets me, she thought I hated her. I didnt, it takes me a while to warm up to new people. Our instructor holds a summer camp in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. December 2014 was the first year we both went. It was the first time I spent time with Kim. That first year there I noticed the kind of person Kim was. I learned quickly that Kim has a superpower. Kim has an amazing ability to make everyone around her smile. Her incredible selflessness is admirable. Looking back it’s easy to see that the seed that eventually would bloom into our love, began to sprout in those moments. Our friendship continued to grow. We spent more time together, but we were both living very separate lives. Things continued in that way until summer of 2016 when we drifted apart for a time for reasons out of our control. In December of 2018, I got a message from an old friend I hadn’t spoken to in a bit. It was the moment Kim blew back into my life, and I knew I couldn’t let her blow on by. That whole path leads us to the here and now. The end in 2016 to new beginnings in 2018/19. Two people knew they had an opportunity in front of them they couldn’t let blow-by. A moment they had to grab, hold, and never let go of. I will do my best to love her with all my heart, protect her with all my might, and care for all my soul. I cannot wait for the rest of our lives; together.
