FAQs

Question

What’s the plan for the weekend, and what do I need to RSVP for?

Answer

This is a celebration of Love with an extended nature weekend. Join as much or as little as you'd like. The schedule is arrivals (June 12), wildlife drive and beach day (June 13), springs day and bioluminescence kayaking (June 14), rehearsal for wedding party only or a free day for others (June 15), and then ceremony and reception (June 16). Please RSVP for the wedding and reception. The only activity that requires an RSVP is the bioluminescence kayak tour.

Question

Which events need to start on time?

Answer

The bioluminescence kayak tour, wedding, and reception start on time. Everything else has a little flexibility.

Question

Where should guests stay, and how far is it?

Answer

We recommend DeLand as the main home base (Hontoon Landing Resort and Marina, nearby Airbnbs). Mosquito Lagoon (Nova, Indian Mound) is a good spillover option if you want to be closer to the beach. Please feel free to stay wherever you'll enjoy your trip the most. DeLand-area lodging is about 30 to 35 minutes from the ceremony and reception. Mosquito Lagoon-area lodging is roughly 45 minutes.

Question

There are two large group rentals suggested (sleeping 16 and 18). How should we coordinate booking?

Answer

These are first-come, first-served and not reserved. Coordinate your group first, then book directly.

Question

What airport should I fly into, and what’s the typical drive like?

Answer

MCO, SFB, and DAB all work, depending on flights. - Orlando International (MCO): around an hour to the DeLand area - Orlando Sanford (SFB): the shortest drive to DeLand - Daytona Beach (DAB): also can be a convenient option, depending on flights A car is strongly recommended. Several locations are in parks and wildlife areas with limited ride-share and spotty service. Carpooling with other guests is also a great option.

Question

What should I expect for weather, bugs, and rain?

Answer

Expect heat, humidity, and occasional quick showers. Florida's summer showers often come and go quickly. If you don't want to possibly get wet at the ceremony, remember to grab an umbrella. Please check the forecast closer to the ceremony date for expected weather. In general, bring sun protection and stay hydrated. Bugs can be active at dawn and dusk near water, so stay protected there as well. We’ll adjust if the weather changes any of our plans.

Question

For the ceremony and reception, will there be seating, shade, or should I bring anything?

Answer

If you have trouble walking or standing, let us know so we can accommodate you for the ceremony. There will be shade at the ceremony, not seating. The reception includes seating, indoor A/C, and outdoor space.

Question

Is the reception alcohol-free?

Answer

Yes. The reception is alcohol-free. Please do not bring alcohol or arrive intoxicated.

Question

Can I take photos, and will there be a shared photo album?

Answer

Yes. Please avoid flash and keep phones away during the vows. We’ll share a link for uploading photos and videos about a month before the wedding.

Question

Is there anything you want guests to avoid given the nature setting?

Answer

Please avoid confetti, waste, pollution, and anything that leaves debris. If you wear fragrance, please avoid synthetic fragrances and keep it light, especially in close seating. As always, pack out what you pack in.
